There will be a marquee from 10.30 am to 4 pm outside the Union Society from the 25th to the 29th of February, hosting themed stalls, interactive areas, films, freebies and lots more !

All week long, you will also find general Ethics & Environment information and aims (campaigns, petitions...)

Monday 25th - Energy & Waste day

Events on energy efficiency, sustainable practices and involvement of the local community

Get some environmentally-friendly money-saving tips from the Energy Saving Trust and the Warm Zone. Ban the plastic bag, lug-a-mug and find out how to be sustainable on the campus!

Controversial Debate on Climate Change in conjunction with Friends of the Earth, chaired by Karen Wilkinson Bell (Director of the Business Community in the North East), featuring MP Jim Cousins (Newcastle Central), Cllr, Gareth Kane (Newcastle City Councillor and Lib Dem Parliamentary Spokesperson), Prof. Barry Gill (Newcastle University), Piers Corbyn (Weatheraction), James Lloyd (People and Planet) and others.

Tuesday 26th - Development & Conflict Issues

Presentation of the MDGs (Millenium Development Goals): what are they? Do they actually work?

Campaign against Genocide: Burma, Rwanda, Congo, Darfur... Confused? Find out about these conflict areas and how to act.

Showing of the film "More than 1000 words..." by Solo Avital, at Bedson Teaching Centre, LG38, at 7 pm: documentary on Ziv Koren, photographer of the Israeli-Palestin conflict. Talk afterwards by research student Laura Speers.

Wednesday 27th - Food day

Find out about Fairtrade and organic food, with local organic producers. + BBQ, chickens and Ben & Jerrys ice-cream !

Also: Control against the Arms Trade and Fairtrade stall.

UNICEF Battle of the Bands: a gerat night of live music by some brilliant bands including Soap Impression, Waiting for october, the Villeins and Sixteen:20. The Cooperage at 7.30 pm.

Thurday 28th - Sustainable Living Day

Want to find out about how to live in a sustainable manner, test-drive a Toyota Prius and get your bike checked?

Come and find out also how to make your house energy efficient!

FAIRTARDE FASHION SHOW, 8pm in Basement, Union Society. Open to all public (tickets available in Union, Oxfam shops, local Chruches and marquee; 1.50 £ advance, 2 £ on door.
