Climate Change DebatePublic debate discussing controversial climate change issues: Monday 25th February, 6 pm - Curtis Auditorium, Herschel Building (FREE - Refreshments included) 

 

Panel Questions:

 

1) Is the Climate Change Bill enough to combat the effects of man-made climate change?

 

2) In the UK, each of us produces an average of seven times our own weight in waste each year, cumulatively filling a space the siwe of the Royal Albert Hall every hour (The Environment Agency).

Do you (the panel members) pratice the 3 Rs - Reduce, Reuse and Recycle - and do you believe fiscal incentives are the only way to reduce waste consumption? 

 

3) Is China's emerging economy justifiably condemned by the global environment movement?

 

 

 

 

  • This debate will be chaired by Karen Wilkinson Bell (Director of Business in the Community in the North East) featuring:

                     David Bellamy OBE

                     Cllr Gareth Kane (Newcastle City Councillor and Lib Dem Parliamentary Spokesperson)

                     Prof. Barry Gill (Newcastle University Politics Dept.) recently published The Globalisation of the Environmental Crisis

                     James Lloyd (People and Planet National Speaker)

  • This event is organised in conjunction with Friends of the Earth and the Big Ask. The Big Ask climate campaign was launched in 2005 by Friends of the Earth to help people ask their politicians to take action on climate change.
